ABBOTSFORD – Officers nabbed a man for impaired driving on their own doorstep early Sunday.

On social media, Abbotsford Police Department admitted it’s not every day that an impaired driver brings himself directly to a police station.

It happened around 2:00 a.m. November 1 when a 42 year old man arrived at APD Headquarters on Justice Way to report he’d lost his cellphone after taking an Uber home from a local liquor establishment earlier in the evening.

While at the station, police say one of their patrol officers saw the man’s truck being driven on the sidewalk within the AbbyPD parking lot.   The officer approached the driver after he got out of the vehicle and immediately noted signs of alcohol impairment.

The man then failed a roadside screening test, was issued a 90-day immediate driving suspension and had his truck impounded.

Police remind drivers to plan ahead, arrange a safe ride home and never get behind the wheel impaired.
