CHILLIWACK — The Fraser Valley Regional District is issuing paper invoices this week for 2027 dog licence renewals, reminding owners that all dogs aged four months and older must have a current licence. Owners registered for paperless billing through their MyFVRD accounts should watch their email inboxes for invoices.
Dog licences can be renewed online or in person at designated locations. Payments cannot currently be made by e-transfer. Owners who have not received a paper invoice can check their online account for their invoice or account balance. New licences for previously unlicensed dogs must be obtained online, in person or by calling 844-495-2273.
The FVRD manages dog licensing in Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Harrison Hot Springs, Kent (Agassiz) and Mission.
The fine for owning an unlicensed dog is $200. Licence fees support community dog-related services, including patrols for off-leash dogs, investigations into complaints about barking and aggressive dogs, and dog-bite incidents.
The FVRD Community Animal Response and Education Centre also temporarily houses lost, stray and impounded dogs, providing medical care, nutrition, socialization and exercise.
