Five tender submissions were received for the RRFB installation program tender before the mandated deadline. Strohmaier Excavating (2019) Ltd.’s low-bid submission was deemed compliant.
The City of Chilliwack will receive partial grant funding for the design and construction of the RRFB installation through the ICBC Road Improvement Program and the Vision Zero in Road Safety grant.
Sufficient funding has been identified in the city’s 2026 Capital Plan for the design and construction works associated with the 2026 RRFB installation program.
The city says minor traffic disruptions to vehicle traffic will occur during construction. Pedestrian passage will be accommodated around the construction limits for each site.
Construction duration is expected completed over the course of eight weeks spanning all site locations. Substantial completion as stated within the tender document is December 31, 2026.
