CULTUS LAKE – The chair of the Cultus Lake Park Board over the past four years is thanking voters after being re-elected to serve another term on Saturday.
Kirk Dzaman told Fraser Valley Today in an email Saturday night that he is grateful for the support of voters and looks forward to working with Erika Jartved and Jono Willcocks, who were elected to represent Cultus Lake residents on the park board.
“I want to sincerely thank the residents of Cultus Lake Park for placing their trust in me and giving me the opportunity to serve another four years on the Cultus Lake Park Board. I am grateful for your support and look forward to continuing the work ahead,” Dzaman said. “Congratulations to Erika Jartved and Jono Willcocks, who were also elected to represent Cultus Lake Park residents. I look forward to working alongside both of you over the next four years.”
Darcy Bauer and David Renwick were elected Saturday by Chilliwack voters to represent the city on the five-member park board.
“Congratulations as well to Darcy Bauer and David Renwick, who were elected to represent the City of Chilliwack,” Dzaman said. “I look forward to working with both of you.”
Dzaman said there are important priorities to address over the next four years, including the proposed redevelopment of Village Centre in Cultus Lake.
“There is important work ahead of us over the next four years. From the Village Centre and long-term infrastructure planning to environmental stewardship, emergency preparedness and maintaining strong relationships with our neighbouring communities, the decisions we make will have a lasting impact on Cultus Lake,” Dzaman said. “I believe we accomplish the most when we work together, listen to one another and keep the long-term interests of Cultus Lake at the centre of our decisions. Thank you again to everyone who participated in this election, shared their thoughts and took the time to vote. I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue serving this community, and I look forward to working with my fellow Commissioners, Park staff and residents over the next four years.”
Dzaman also acknowledged two park board candidates who were not elected by voters.
“I also want to recognize Blair Stewart for the care he has shown for our community and the time and effort he put into his campaign,” Dzaman said. “Blair’s commitment to Cultus Lake was evident throughout the election, and I appreciate his willingness to put his name forward and contribute to the conversation about our community’s future. I also want to acknowledge Steve Marks for putting his name forward and participating in the election.”
