YALE — An evacuation order has been issued for 40 properties in Electoral Areas A and B near Yale due to ongoing wildfire risk from the Brunswick Creek Complex.
As of Saturday, August 1, at 9 a.m., the Fraser Valley Regional District is urging residents in one property in the area of Alexandra Lodge to Alexandra Bridge, and 39 from the Bridge to Sawmill Creek, to leave the area immediately.
Evacuees in need of in-person support are asked to go to Seabird Island Band, located at 2895 Chowat Road in Agassiz.
The FVRD has also declared an evacuation alert in Electoral Area B from Sawmill Creek to Dogwood Valley.
The BC Wildfire Service says a cold front is expected to move inland from the coast this morning and increase wind gusts up to 70 kilometres an hour in some locations overnight, which can increase fire behaviour.
Equipment, crews and structure protection are set to be positioned strategically according to the coming winds.
The Brunswick Creek Complex has grown to nearly 43,300 hectares at the time of writing.
