CHILLIWACK – Police in Chilliwack aren’t releasing a lot of information about their investigation into a violent assault that happened two months ago on Wells Road just west of Vedder Road.
As widely reported by multiple media outlets, an adult man and a male youth were attacked sometime around 2 a.m. on Sunday, May 3, 2026 in the 45000 block of Wells Road in Chilliwack. The male youth was attacked by unknown suspects and suffered life-threatening injuries, and was transported to hospital in serious to critical condition.
Chilliwack RCMP spokesperson Corporal Kiener said it was alleged that both assaults involved the same suspects, however, the two victims are not known to one another.
Shortly after the brazen attack, the Chilliwack RCMP’s Serious Crime Unit appealed to members of the public who were in the area of Wells Road/Vedder Road for any CCTV or dashcam footage.
Less than a week later, police executed a search warrant on Friday, May 8 in the 7100 block of Maitland Avenue, not far from where the violent attack occurred.

Cpl. Kiener confirmed to Fraser Valley Today that no one had been charged following the execution of the search warrant, and she could not provide any further information due to the nature of the investigation.
On Thursday, May 14, police appealed to the public for help in identifying an SUV that was observed travelling near Vedder Road and Wells Road, since the occupant(s) of the SUV could have been witnesses prior to, or during, the assault.
“Based on the information gathered so far, investigators believe the occupants of this vehicle may have seen or heard something significant and could provide critical information,” Cpl. Kiener said.
Police describe the vehicle as a newer-model, mid-size grey SUV. It was observed travelling eastbound on Wells Road between approximately 2 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 3. During that time, the vehicle pulled over briefly just prior to the intersection of Vedder Road and Wells Road.

Now, roughly two months after the initial attack occurred, police still aren’t saying a whole lot about the investigation and where it stands.
Fraser Valley Today contacted Cpl. Kiener this past week to ask whether any possible suspects had been interviewed and if detectives were still collecting evidence, conducting witness statements and obtaining CCTV footage.
In response, Cpl. Kiener said, “I have been informed that the investigative team remains in ongoing communication with the victim’s mother. I can only imagine what she is going through. The Chilliwack Serious Crimes Unit continues to advance this investigation which remains ongoing. We are unable to provide an update currently. We understand the impact this has had on the community, and we will provide more information if we are able to.”
