Patient airlifted to hospital after incident at Agassiz prison Tuesday night
AGASSIZ — One person was airlifted to hospital following an undisclosed incident at Kent Institution, a maximum-security prison, in Agassiz Tuesday night.
B.C. Emergency Health Services spokesperson Bowen Osoko says paramedics received a call about an incident at Kent Institution in Agassiz Tuesday, March 26 at 7 p.m. An air ambulance and two ambulances were dispatched to the scene. Paramedics provided emergency medical treatment and transported one patient by air ambulance to hospital, Osoko said.
Fraser Valley Today has left a message with Kim MacPherson, assistant warden of management services at Kent Institution, seeking information on Tuesday night’s incident.
Earlier this week, an inmate was the victim of an assault at Kent on Sunday, Mar. 24. The injured inmate was evaluated by staff members and transported to an outside hospital to receive treatment.
The Agassiz detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the institution are presently investigating the incident.
The assailants have been identified and the appropriate actions have been taken.
No staff members or other inmates were injured during the incident on Sunday, March 24.
