VANCOUVER — A magnitude 4.2 earthquake has rumbled under the Pacific Ocean off the northwestern end of Vancouver Island.
Earthquakes Canada says the quake struck 193 kilometres west of Port Hardy, B.C.
It struck at an underground depth of 10 kilometres at about 1:10 p.m. on Monday.
The quake is the largest among a cluster of recent shakeups in the region.
It happened along the Juan de Fuca plate, which slides under the North American plate off British Columbia’s coast.
The U.S. Tsunami Warning System does not display the quake and Earthquakes Canada has had no reports of anyone feeling it.
