ABBOTSFORD – A man suspected of crossing into Canada from the U.S. this past Friday night was able to elude authorities in Abbotsford despite the efforts of several Abbotsford Police Department officers and a police dog.
According to a statement from Abbotsford PD spokesperson Sgt. Paul Walker, police in Abbotsford were notified about a suspected illegal border crossing in the area of McKenzie Road and Farmer Road at approximately 10:07 p.m. on Friday evening, Oct. 23.

The intersection of Farmer Road and McKenzie Road is pictured, the area where police got a report about a suspected illegal border crosser last Friday evening, Oct. 23.
Sgt. Walker says “multiple” AbbyPD officers, including the Police Dog Service, responded and conducted a search of the area.
Information received during the investigation indicated that a lone male, described as wearing light-coloured clothing, had crossed into Canada and was travelling northbound from the border area. Despite coordinated search efforts, the individual was not located.
“AbbyPD regularly responds to reports of illegal border crossings and works closely with its law enforcement partners to support public safety and border security,” Sgt. Walker said. “Anyone who observes suspicious activity near the border is encouraged to contact police immediately.”
