CHILLIWACK – The leader of the B.C. Conservative Party is scheduled to hold a mid-morning event in Maple Ridge and visit a café in Chilliwack today.

Lorne Doerkson will deliver a policy announcement at 10 a.m. Monday morning, Oct. 19, in Maple Ridge, before heading to Chilliwack to do a meet and greet with supporters.

Doerkson is set to visit Serene Stay and Play Café at 107-7491 Vedder Road in Sardis from noon to 1:30 p.m. today.

Serene Stay and Play Café co-owner Jenny Sawatzky told Fraser Valley Today that they are serving as a host location only, and not as a sponsor of the event.

Serene Stay and Play Café previously hosted an informal meet and greet for local candidates earlier this month.

“All politicians are welcome to do the same!” Sawatzky told Fraser Valley Today in a text message. “We also hosted a meet and greet for all the school trustees and city council, and had a lot of community members come by.”

As for what the other two other major political parties in B.C. are doing this morning, BC NDP Leader David Eby will hold an event in Vancouver this morning at 9 a.m. in Stanley Park, while the BC Green Party will hold an event this morning at a brewery in Sooke.
