CHILLIWACK – One of Western Canada’s largest book sales returns to Chilliwack in just over two weeks featuring an additional 15,000 items added to the event’s already extensive inventory.

The Chilliwack Rotary Book Sale gets underway on Sunday, November 1 at Heritage Park in Chilliwack, running daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. There will be special extended hours until 9 p.m. on Friday, November 6.

Now in its 42nd year, the Rotary Club of Chilliwack says the event has grown into one of the largest used book sales in Western Canada, raising more than $100,000 annually for community projects, scholarships, and literacy initiatives.

Patrons can find literally tens of thousands of high-quality donated books across every genre — along with DVDs, CDs, records, comic books, puzzles and even rare books — with most items priced from just a few dollars. Admission is free, and stock is replenished throughout the week.

Dick Clegg, chair of the 2026 Rotary Book Sale, said, “People eagerly await the Chilliwack Rotary Book Sale all year. Groups of friends or family often come together and once inside, split up and rush to their favourite sections. Luckily we have hundreds of volunteers to help out and about 85,000 books to discover.”

Since the first sale in 1984, proceeds have funded projects including student scholarships, improvements to the Rotary Trail network, the Feed the Kids and Starfish Backpack programs providing food hampers for local school children, and improved access to literacy materials across the community.

“We are extremely proud of this fundraiser.” said Jared Mumford, president of the Rotary Club of Chilliwack. “Every item you see at the Book Sale was donated by a community member, and the funds raised go right back into the community. We’ll also have our new 50/50 Community Raffle tickets available for purchase on site.”

The sale is made possible by a year-round effort of dedicated Rotarians and committed community volunteers who sort donations three times weekly at the Rotary Service Building at 44870 Wolfe Road, where donations are accepted 24/7 year-round. The club asks people to only take donations to the Rotary building and not to bring them to the sale.

The club’s Outdoor Book Sale was cancelled this summer due to poor weather conditions. Those items will now be available to patrons of the Indoor Book Sale.

Clegg added, “We were disappointed having to cancel our Outdoor Book Sale this summer, but the good news is that we now have an additional 15,000 items we’ll be bringing to the Indoor Book Sale. We know that people that have never attended in the past are surprised at how large and well organized our Book Sale is. Don’t worry, we’ll have plenty of room and interesting items for you to browse at your leisure!”

Organizers behind Chilliwack Rotary Book Sale would like to acknowledge the support of their partners Paul’s Moving, Hofstede’s Country Barn, Load Warriors, Raine Electric, Prairie Coast Machinery, and the Chilliwack Air Cadets.

As mentioned above, admission to the event is free. Accepted payment methods include cash, debit or credit card.

The Rotary Club of Chilliwack is part of Rotary International, a global network of 1.4 million community leaders committed to service above self. The club meets every Friday at noon at the Chilliwack Curling Club, and welcomes guests and prospective members to their meetings.

The Rotary Club of Chilliwack has been involved in many landmark initiatives including major funding for the Chilliwack General Hospital Emergency Expansion (2010), the Rotary Hall Theatre at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre (2011), Central Community Park (2005), the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve (2002), the Rotary Trail (1995) the Browne Creek Wetlands (2018), the Vedder Rotary Loop Trail (2019), the Rotary Pool (1969), as well as numerous international and local projects.
