ABBOTSFORD – A spokesperson for the Abbotsford Police Department says a worker has been hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after an industrial workplace incident on Vye Road Wednesday morning.

Abbotsford Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Paul Walker told Fraser Valley Today in an email that AbbyPD patrol officers responded to the 34600 block of Vye Road Wednesday morning (Sept. 30) just after 8 a.m.

Initial reports revealed that a worker had been struck by a commercial vehicle while working within the facility, Sgt. Walker said.

The injured man was transported to hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries, Sgt. Walker said.

AbbyPD officers secured the scene and collaborated with WorkSafeBC personnel during the day.

“This incident is now in the hands of WCB as there is nothing criminal in nature from today’s incident,” Sgt. Walker told Fraser Valley Today Wednesday night via email.

As a result of the incident, Sgt. Walker said the transfer station was closed to the public on Wednesday.
