A Night to Remember at the Inaugural Sportys Awards
Chilliwack, B.C. — The first-ever Sportys Awards brought together the local sports community for a night of celebration, recognizing the impact of sport across athletes, teams, and contributors. The event not only highlighted in-game achievements, but also the individuals and organizations working behind the scenes to help sport thrive in the community.
Among those recognized throughout the evening, the Chilliwack Chiefs were honoured in multiple categories, earning top group performance in the Ice n’ Snow category, along with Superstar Sports Club of the Year.
Chiefs forward Nico Grabas received two individual awards, taking home Top Individual Performance in the Ice n’ Snow category and Superstar Male Athlete of the Year.
Additional honours included Belle being named Superstar Mascot of the Year, while Karah Garden, the team’s Volunteer Coordinator, was recognized as Superstar Volunteer of the Year.
A highlight of the evening came as Barry Douglas, Chiefs VP of Business Operations and Team Governor, was presented with the first-ever Lifetime Legend Sportys Award. In a surprise announcement, the award was renamed in his honour and will now be known as the Barry Douglas Lifetime Legend Award, recognizing his lasting impact on Chilliwack’s sports community.
