3 stabbed, 1 arrested after altercation at New Westminster eatery in casino: police
NEW WESTMINSTER – Three people suffered serious injuries after being slashed at a restaurant inside the Starlight Casino in New Westminster, police say.
Investigators report that the injuries resulted from a scuffle just after midnight between two groups on the patio of the eatery near Gifford Street.
New Westminster Police Department (NWPD) Sgt. Andrew Leaver said the fight involved at least one “edged weapon” and took place between individuals who did not know each other.
He stated that one person was taken into custody at the scene, while two others involved are still being sought.
“At this time, we believe this is an isolated incident,” Leaver explained.
“Within minutes of receiving the 9-1-1 call, our officers located and arrested one suspect. We’re asking for the public’s help in identifying the other individuals involved in this altercation.”
Detectives are asking anyone who may have mobile phone video from the incident at Starlight between midnight and 1:00 a.m. to contact the NWPD Major Crime Unit at 604-529-2430 or email mcucrimetips@nwpolice.org
