Back in the Fight: Chiefs Take Game 3 on Home Ice
By Shaelee Dombrowski
The Chiefs earn their first win in Round 2.
The Chilliwack Chiefs returned home on Tuesday night for Game 3 of their second-round series against the Prince George Spruce Kings after starting the series on the road. Round two did not start out the way Chilliwack had wanted. Falling in Games 1 and 2 and being down 2-0 in the series, Tuesday’s game was a must-win on home ice.
After an uneventful first period, the Chiefs came out strong in the second to get on the board first. Two goals in quick succession from Boris Borin and Adam Boatter gave the Chiefs a two-goal lead for most of the middle frame before the Spruce Kings got a late goal to get within one.
Just fifteen seconds after successfully killing a penalty in the third, Chilliwack regained their two-goal lead with a goal by A.J Schaaf. For the second time in the game, Prince George got back within one, and with just five minutes remaining, the Chiefs had to fight to keep their lead.
The Chilliwack Chiefs successfully held Prince George off and secured their first win of the series. The Chiefs and Spruce Kings will meet again tomorrow night, Wednesday, April 22nd, for Game 4, where Chilliwack will look to even the series before heading back on the road for Game 5. Puck drop is at 7 pm, and a special guest will be in the building. Vancouver Canucks Colour Commentator and NHL alumnus Dave Tomlinson will drop the puck and sign autographs during the first intermission. This is a game you will not want to miss. Be loud. Be proud. Be there.
