Pitt Meadows RCMP names first detachment commander
PITT MEADOWS — Pitt Meadows Mounties are gearing up to launch an autonomous detachment–
Staff Sergeant Michelle Luca has been selected as the city’s first Detachment Commander.
S/Sgt. Luca grew up in the Tri-Cities and graduated from Depot in 2005. Since then, she has served her entire career with Lower Mainland RCMP detachments in North Vancouver, Coquitlam and Ridge Meadows.
“I am honoured to have been selected as the Detachment Commander for the Pitt Meadows RCMP,” says S/Sgt. Luca. “Building relationships with community partners is important to me and I am excited to continue policing and serving this community, while working to deliver police services that fit the needs of the City of Pitt Meadows and the Katzie First Nation.”
The City began the process of creating a detachment in 2019. Three years later, S/Sgt. Luca was brought on to be the Interim Detachment Commander.
“Her role will be crucial in ensuring a seamless transition while maintaining the highest standards of service and community protection,” said Mayor Nicole MacDonald. “Her leadership will help align policing priorities with the evolving needs of our City, strengthening public trust and enhancing safety for all residents.”
The detachment is set to open in the spring of 2026.
