CHILLIWACK — Boathouse, a Canadian retailer founded in 1963 that has grown to over 90 stores across Canada, has officially opened at the Cottonwood Centre mall in Chilliwack.

Cottonwood Centre mall management made the announcement Thursday (Aug. 15), saying Boathouse offers the latest trends in street wear, leading brands in footwear and stylish activewear all under one roof. They also sell Nike, Adidas, Dr. Martens and Crocs.

Boathouse bills itself as “Canada’s destination for men’s and women’s clothing, footwear and accessories from the hottest brands available today.” Boathouse carries a massive selection of Carhartt, Nike, tentree, Princess Polly, Adidas, Salty Crew, Varsity, Vans, Dr. Marten’s, Birkenstock, Crocs, and more.

Boathouse got its start back in 1963 as a small business in the Canadian city of St. Catharines, Ontario. Known locally as Arlies, the family-operated business specialized in men’s and women’s active lifestyle apparel and footwear, catering to outdoor thrill-seekers and sports enthusiasts alike. The flagship Arlies store is located at the Pen Centre in St. Catharines, Ontario, and has been growing steadily since 1977 to more than 90 stores nation-wide, with most operating under the branded name of Boathouse.

In 2024, Boathouse expanded into the USA market with BH2.0, opening 4 brick and mortar stores in Florida and launching BH2stores.com.
