Chilliwack Fire Department opens recruitment for paid on-call firefighters
CHILLIWACK — The Chilliwack Fire Department has announced its Paid On-Call (POC) Firefighter Recruitment has begun for its next Recruit Training Program. Residents are invited to join the ranks of first responders who play a crucial role in protecting and serving the community.
POC firefighters are Chilliwack residents who respond to emergencies 24/7. They receive an hourly wage for emergency responses and for attending weekly practice sessions held on Monday nights.
The role of Chilliwack’s firefighters extends beyond combating fires. They are frequently called to medical and environmental emergencies, gas leaks, and various rescue situations. The Chilliwack Fire Department says today’s firefighters are essential community leaders and partners, providing comprehensive emergency response services.
Aspiring POC firefighters must be motivated and physically fit. Those interested in serving their community can find more information and submit their applications by August 23, 2024, to chilliwack.com/POC.
