Silent auction, BBQ and 30+ vendors all part of Saturday’s 26th annual Gwynne Vaughan Plant Sale in Chilliwack
CHILLIWACK — Gwynne Vaughan Park, a picturesque oasis of nearly seven acres of gardens, lawns and a heritage orchard in Fairfield Island surrounding a vintage home built in 1896, will host its 26th annual Plant Sale this weekend.
There’s truly something for everyone to enjoy at the plant sale.
The festivities consist of sales of annuals, perennials, trees, herbs, shrubs, hanging baskets, hostas and bulbs. There will also be baked goods including gluten-free varieties for sale, hot dogs, burgers, soaps, jewelry and pottery for sale, in addition to live music.
The silent auction features donated items from vendors. One of the auction items is a potting bench that Gwynne Vaughan Park Society board member Jack Allen built from reclaimed wood.
“We anticipate frantic bidding on his (art)work,” the park wrote on its Facebook page.
Over 20 of its dedicated volunteers, or what the society calls its “intrepid gardeners,” gathered last weekend to make sure the park appears in pristine condition for this weekend’s plant sale.
The plant sale gets underway at 9 a.m. and should wrap up by 3 p.m. at the park, located at 46181 Hope River Road. Admission and parking are both free. There will be over 30 vendors on site.
