CHILLIWACK — The City of Chilliwack says it will install rectangular rapid flashing beacons (RRFBs) at five intersection crosswalks on the north side of the city this spring.
The city wrote in a brief news release Wednesday (Jan. 24) that five intersection crosswalks will be enhanced with these flashing beacons for “heightened pedestrian crossing visibility and safety due to higher traffic volumes and visibility requirements.”
RRFBs will be installed at the following locations:
- First Avenue at Nowell Street
- Yale Road at Hazel Street
- Yale Road at Kipp Avenue
- Young Road at Lewis Avenue
- Young Road at Reece Avenue
Future installations may occur at the following intersections as they are in the design stage:
- First Avenue at Williams Street
- Reece Avenue at Williams Street
- Tyson Road at Mt. Slesse School (the overhead flashing amber lights will change to an RRFB)
- Yale Road at Victor Street
