Mission RCMP on the hunt for man who stole firearms, rammed police vehicle with his pickup truck

MISSION — Mounties in Mission need the public’s help to track down a man who is suspected of breaking into a home twice in one hour, stealing firearms and fleeing by ramming his truck into a police car during an incident Wednesday morning in Mission.
According to a statement from Mission RCMP Constable Harrison Mohr, CCTV footage revealed that on Wednesday, Jan. 17, at approximately 10:45 a.m., an older white male used a pickup truck to barge into a garage door of a home on Cottonwood Street in Mission. The man subsequently entered the residence and stole multiple items including two tool boxes and a Husky air compressor.
Emboldened, the male suspect returned for a second round of crime at roughly 11:25 a.m. and stole a safe containing two firearms, jewelry and other family items.

Mission RCMP officers found this same male driving his truck on Lougheed Highway near Wren Street a short time later, and attempted to block it in. However, the driver rammed his truck into one of the police cars and sped away. Fortunately, Cst. Mohr said, the officer was not injured.

“Not only did this individual break into someone’s home and steal numerous belongings including firearms, but the fact that he was willing to ram his truck into a police car to get away highlights the risk he poses,” said Cst. Mohr. “If you see this person, please call 911. We would like to return this family’s belongings, and ensure that the stolen firearms are not used in the commission of any other crimes.”
The truck is an early 2000s grey Chevrolet Silverado 1500 extended cab, with a black headache rack on the back. The offender is a white male, 50s-60s, with grey hair.
